Cost of Living Pressures

It has been highlighted on TV, in the papers, on the radio and both sides of politics also agree (on this one issue at least), all families are facing cost of living pressures.  Adding to the existing pressures are the recent increases to rates and utilities and the unknown future costs associated with the Carbon Tax, the Mining Tax and increases to stamp duty.  After all these take affect, families could be facing some major cash flow issues over the next 6-12 months (if they not already are).

A major problem is that our economy is very two paced; basically anything to do with the mining or gas sectors are booming and creating inflation pressures, while pretty much every other sector is struggling – especially retail.  I really do not see anything on the horizon that is going to change this, so it is time review your circumstances and if necessary make some hard decisions.

As many of our clients are aware, we offer a financial planning service to all clients of the firm.  The first appointment is free.  If anyone is having trouble or they feel they maybe getting close to not being able to cover their expenses, please arrange a time and we will see if we can help.  If we can’t we will let you know and point you in the right direction for additional help.  Obviously the offer of an overall review is also open to everyone that may want to see if there are better options to consider.

Some of the larger benefits can be obtain by:

  1. Budgeting – Determining what’s coming in and what’s going out, and then considering options.
  2. Review Loans – There are potential options to reduce the cost, reduce the rates and get a better outcome with less stress.
  3. Review and Restructure Insurances – It is possible to transfer the cost of some personal insurance to superannuation.  While this doesn’t save money it does free up extra monies each month to assist with covering increased living costs.

If you are unsure and want a quick chat over the phone, this is also worthwhile.  Please contact an adviser by calling the office on (07) 3284 7752.
